Class notes taken as a student at Notre Dame, ca. 1917; professional and personal correspondence concerning the Notre Dame community, 1939-1949; and photographs. Correspondents include Magnus Bjorndal, Malcolm Pearson, Amos J. Eaton, McCready Houston, Leo L. Ward, Francis E. McMahon, Norbert Engels and Delmar G. Roos. Also drawings and correspondence concerning Fagan's work in researching the settlement at North Salem, New Hampshire, 1943-1949, including letters exchanged between Fagan and William B. Goodwin of Hartford, Connecticut, dealing with Goodwin's architectural excavations and writings in support of his theory of Irish settlements in New England long before Columbus.

William Goodwin was born in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Rev. Francis Goodwin and Mary Alsop Jackson Goodwin. He attended Saint Paul's School in New Hampshire, Trinity College, and graduated from Yale in 1888. He worked for the Aetna Insurance company for 40 years as a sepcial agent in Ohio, Seattle, and San Francisco.
